The 2023 Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team – Reserve Champion Team at the National Western!

A special thanks to AMSA for coordinating this contest and JBS for hosting the contest at their Greeley, CO plant. Also a big thanks to Tyson, Cargill, Double J Packing, Garden City Community College, Texas Tech, Colorado State, and the University of Wyoming for giving our students great opportunities to practice on the way!

 The team is coached by Trent Stolowski, assistant coach Lauren Lee, and coordinated by Jennifer Wyle.

 We are proud of this group of students and their hard work. They have grown so much over the past two weeks on the road. We look forward to what they will accomplish in the future!

The team will take off again next Monday to compete at the Southwestern Meat Judging Contest in Fort Worth!

September 2022 

  • Laurie’s daughter Emily received a scholarship from Medina Count Aggie Moms and Medina County A&M Club, daughter, Devin   made distinguished student for spring ’22.
  • Sara’s son, Trey Kauffmann received a $1000 scholarship from the Medina Valley Hunters Club
  • Cindy’s daughter, Sage, got a job at Dutch Brothers.
  • Annie’s son, Kody, class of 25 is going to South Africa in December for his study abroad
  • Lori’s son Logan finished a 7 month internship with Whiting Turner Construction firm in San Antonio and accepted a position beginning in January of 23 after his graduation in December of 22.  He also got engaged.
  • Jan’s daughter Allie will get her class ring on Friday September 23rd.
  • Tammy reported that Colby LaPort will be getting his ring on September 23rd.
  • Karen’s son Ryan accepted his first grown up job at Hewlett Packard
  • Lynn’s daughter, Hannah received the Medina County A&M Club scholarship and made the Dean’s list. She is studying environmental geoscience.
  • Roxanne’s son Mason received the Medina County A&M club scholarship as well as the MV Aggie Mom’s scholarship.  He will be getting his ring on September 23rd.

 

May 2022 – Adrianna Calvillo ’25 (Daughter of Adrian and Michelle Calvillo of Natalia) has been invited to participate in Valero’s Engineering Summit and will also receive a $1,500 scholarship upon completion.

Nov 2018 – Wyatt Forrest ’21 (son or Steve & Roxanne Forrest of Castroville) made the Texas A&M Collegiate Poultry Judging Team and will be competing for a National Title in Arkansas on Nov 4-7  UPDATE: A&M won the Poultry Judging Competition and Wyatt was the Top Individual scorer…ranking him #1 in the Nation, WHOOP!

February 2017 – Katie Jo Rumfield ’19, (daughter of Joey and Michele Rumfield of Devine) led the Texas A&M Women’s Lacrosse Team as the high point Scorer during their trip to Southern California. TAMU Women’s Lax played the San Diego State and Boise State
